Question 4:
Who would be the audience for your media product?
A target audience is important because producing a film is a lot more straight forward when you are aware of the age group of the audience as you can cater to their interests and make the themes of the film more appealing to your target audience.
My thriller appeals to the audience because the storyline is generic as it is based on two sisters and a female villain. This would make the target audience want to know more about what will occur in the film as it progresses.
Unique effects were also used to make my film appealing to the audience such as jerky camera movements and a range of sounds relating to different events in the film. These effects are conventional to the thriller genre and my target audience because films that are rated 15 contain a wide range of effects and complicated story lines such as my own in order to keep the target audience engaged as teens aged 15 and above prefer films that include alot of effects.
The age certificate for my film is a 15 because the main character (the older sister) is within this age range and the audience would typically feel like they can relate more with a character in the film that is in their age group.
I chose this audience for my film because teens from the age of 15 are interested in films such as my own as well as young adults being interested in the film also because of the use of surrealism in the film is more likely to attract the target audience.
Your analysis of question 4, demonstrates minimal understanding of how your thriller sequence appeals to an audience. You have identified your target audience and have started to relate to examples, but you have not explored your reasons in enough detail, therefore you need to elaborate on the points that you have included, which will enable you to extend your points further.
